THE Ministry of Health is not giving out Bible verses to patients as has been claimed by certain sectors of the media.
Certain members of our Health workforce are doing that.
It has been part of their holistic approach to Health Service – mental, physical and spiritual – and something most of our Christian staff have been doing for years past.
The Ministry of Health leave it to the staff to practise what they think is the best way to help patients recover and go through their hard times. As long as they do not interfere with a patient’s decision on their religious belief.
In the same way there are Hindu and Muslim staff who share their belief with patients as a way of trying to help them through their suffering.
We are happy with the change in customer service by our staff who want to improve on the way they deal with patients.
But it must be clarified that just because certain staff are sharing Bible verses with patients that it is the policy of the Ministry of Health, as has been the slant taken by certain media outlets.

staff should not mix religion with health services rendered.if the patients wanted to be healed spiritually they would have seeked a spiritual healer's assistance.
