Overview

Setting tactical directions for the delivary of health services in Fiji is becoming increasingly important as we continue to provide health services in the face of limited resources against the rapid increase in health costs and the emergence of new and chronic diseases.

In the past, competing demands between community and accute care have limited the advancement of public health and health promotion strategies. With the integration of curtive and public health services under a single management structure at divisional level in a decentrilised structure, a more equitable resource allocation is envisaged to be achieved.

The Ministry of Health is determined to improve management of its limited resources through the implementation of the Health Management Reform Project funded by the Australian Government. The aim is to improve health services delivary in Fiji through decentralisation and management capacity building.

This Corporate Plan has been developed with the view to guiding managers in the Central Office, in Suva and in the three Divisional Headquarters. It outlines geographical divisions priorities in terms of resource allocation, attainment of specified goals and objectives and identifies officers who are responsible for specific strategies.

The delivary of effective public health and health promotion services continues to be the priority for Ministry of Health. The goal is to enhance the promotion of wellbeing protection of life, and prevention of disease, injury, infirmity and control of health damaging practices.
