The functions of the Inspectorate & Regulatory Authority(IRA) unit involve;

• Coordinating the issue of permits, licenses and registration as per Cap 115
• Coordinating inspection programs
• Play an advisory role on the compliance to the current Acts
• Coordinating technical aspects of the Pharmacy & Poison’s Board activities

Following regulations and Bills are part of the IRA projects to be finalized;

• Medicines & Poisons Bill
• Pharmacist’s and Pharmacy Technician Bill
• Poisons Regulation
• Medicines Regulation

The IRA will be reorganized gradually to focus on the two vital aspects of IRA, i.e.

• Regulatory aspects
• Enforcement aspects (inspectorate)
