Fiji further extended its visibility at the global and international platform when it took the stage as a small island developing country to amplify its voice on safe surgery on the margins of the 72nd Session of the World Health Assembly.
In addressing the crowd, the Hon. Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete reiterated that “we gather as a community of the world to address this core issues, safe surgery is the heart of Universal Health Coverage, without safe surgery we cannot achieve universal health coverage.”
The side event was co-sponsored by Small Island by Developing States namely, Fiji, Tonga, Maldives and Bahamas.
Fiji is co- sponsoring two side events for the WHA72. The other side event is on Climate Change, Health and Oceans.
