COVID-19 Vaccination Update

April 3rd 2021

As recently announced the Ministry of Health and Medical Services is rolling out the next phase of vaccinations with approximately 50,000 people eligible to receive this 2-dose vaccine from Tuesday April 6th. This group includes the rest of the frontline staff at the borders, all healthcare workers (including those in private healthcare), police and military officers, tourism and hotel workers, and civil servants. Also eligible to receive the vaccine will be those over the age of 60, and people with medical conditions that increase the risk of severe disease if they do get infected with COVID-19. You will fall into this category if you are currently attending a Special Outpatients Department (SOPD) clinic with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, or similar with a private healthcare provider. This includes people with diabetes, asthma, and heart conditions.

A list of locations where you can get vaccinated will be released at a later date. However, we urge all Fijians over the age of 18, and especially people eligible for this second phase, to register for the COVID-19 vaccine now. You must be registered to receive your vaccine. To register please visit vra.digitalfiji.gov.fj or your nearest health centre with your birth registration or citizenship number and photo ID. The birth registration number (BRN) is printed on your birth certificate. If you do not have your birth certificate you can get your BRN free of charge from any Birth, Deaths, and Marriage (BDM) Registry or your nearest health centre, just bring a valid photo ID.

Ministry of Health and Medical Staff will also be present today for registrations at a list of locations published on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MHMSFiji  All you need to register at these locations is a valid photo identification e.g. voter registration card, drivers license, passport, FNPF/FRCA Joint ID card.

COVID-19 Update

April 3rd 2021

There are 0 new cases of COVID-19 to report in this update.

1 active case remains admitted at the Lautoka hospital isolation unit. It has been 17 days since the last border quarantine case was reported, and 350 days since the last case was detected outside border quarantine on April 18^th 2020.

Fiji has had 67 cases in total, with 64 recoveries and 2 deaths, since our first case was reported on March 19^th 2020. The last 49 cases have been international travel associated cases detected in border quarantine.

A total of 39,142 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted, with a daily average of 328 tests per day over the last 7 days, and a weekly average of 1670 tests per week over the last 2 weeks.

There are currently 900 people who have recently arrived from overseas undergoing mandatory 14 day quarantine in government supervised border quarantine facilities.

COVID-19 Update

March 31st 2021

There are 0 new cases of COVID-19 to report in this update.

1 active case remains admitted at the Lautoka hospital isolation unit. It has been 14 days since the last border quarantine case was reported, and 347 days since the last case was detected outside border quarantine on April 18^th 2020.

Fiji has had 67 cases in total, with 64 recoveries and 2 deaths, since our first case was reported on March 19^th 2020. The last 49 cases have been international travel associated cases detected in border quarantine.

A total of 37,804 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted, with a daily average of 260 tests per day over the last 7 days, and a weekly average of 1670 tests per week over the last 2 weeks.

There are currently 1002 people who have recently arrived from overseas undergoing mandatory 14 day quarantine in government supervised border quarantine facilities.

Following the receipt of 100,000 doses of COVID-19 Astrazeneca vaccines from India on Monday March 29^th, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services is announcing the second phase of the rollout of vaccines. From Tuesday April 6^th approximately 50,000 people will be eligible to receive this 2-dose vaccine. This group includes the rest of the frontline staff at the borders, all healthcare workers (including those in private healthcare), police and military officers, tourism and hotel workers, and civil servants. Also eligible to receive the vaccine will be those over the age of 60, and people with medical conditions that increase the risk of severe disease if they do get infected with COVID-19. There are 0 new cases of COVID-19 to report in this update.

There remains 1 active case admitted at the Lautoka hospital isolation unit. It has been 12 days since the last border quarantine case was reported, and 345 days since the last case was detected outside border quarantine on April 18^th 2020.

Fiji has had 67 cases in total, with 64 recoveries and 2 deaths, since our first case was reported on March 19^th 2020. The last 49 cases have been international travel associated cases detected in border quarantine.

A total of 37,179 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted, with a daily average of 257 tests per day over the last 7 days, and a weekly average of 1670 tests per week over the last 2 weeks.

There are currently 1100 people who have recently arrived from overseas undergoing mandatory 14 day quarantine in government supervised border quarantine facilities. We have also reviewed and heightened pre-departure, inflight and quarantine conditions for travelers coming into Fiji from Papua New Guinea. As such, only flights pre-approved by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services will be allowed to bring in passengers from Papua New Guinea. A charter flight scheduled for the 9^th of April has been approved in this regard.

A total of 36,597 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted, with a daily average of 259 tests per day over the last 7 days, and a weekly average of 1609 tests per week over the last 2 weeks.

There are currently 936 people who have recently arrived from overseas undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine in government-supervised border quarantine facilities.
