Press Release: Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to roll out from Thursday

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MoHMS) will roll out the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines effective from Thursday, 10th February 2022.

The new batch of 530,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines which arrived in the country this month, will be available as booster doses for adults aged 18 years and above, as well as for the vaccination of children aged 12-14 years old.

Additionally, children aged 12-14 years old who are due to receive their second dose are encouraged to get vaccinated for maximum protection against COVID-19.

As of 10 February 2022 (Thursday), children aged 12-14 years old, living in the Central Division can get vaccinated at the Civic Centre in Suva from 9 am-3 pm.

As a result of the recent adverse weather conditions, there will be delays in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in the areas affected by heavy rain and floods.

The public is advised to follow the daily advisories on the weather conditions and the adversaries on the COVID-19 vaccination program so they are updated with the vaccine availability at their nearest vaccination venues and to safely access these vaccination sites.

The Ministry of Health acknowledges the support of the Government of Australia and New Zealand and the partnership of UNICEF in enabling all eligible Fijians access to the crucial COVID-19 vaccines. These vaccines are crucial to protecting and saving the lives of many Fijians.
